With December here, life is about to get busy. Between birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, Christmas concerts, baseball tournaments, field trips, and work—your girl has a packed schedule. But guess what? I’m not letting it overwhelm me. This is my favorite time of year, and you know I love building a process and sharing it. So today, I’m giving you my best tips to stay on top of everything and actually enjoy the season.
Let’s get into it.
5 Tips to Stay Organized During the Holidays
1. Brain Dump Your December To-Dos
Set a timer for 5 minutes and write down every single thing you need to do this month—big or small. Just let it all out. This helps clear your mind and gives you a full picture of what’s on your plate.
2. Add Events and Activities to Your Calendar
Your phone’s calendar is your best friend. Add every event, appointment, and commitment. Not only will it keep you from forgetting anything, but it’s also a quick way to know if you’re free when someone asks for a favor. Plus, it’s a great tool to spot when you’re overbooking yourself (but that’s a lesson for another email).
3. Break Down Big Tasks Into Smaller Steps
Overwhelmed by big tasks like “buy Christmas gifts”? Break them into manageable steps:
Step 1: Create a budget.
Step 2: Make a list of people to shop for and gift ideas.
Step 3: Schedule shopping days (online or in-store).This makes tasks feel more achievable and helps you stay on track.
4. Assign Dates and Deadlines
Put deadlines on everything. Whether you’re a pen-and-paper person or prefer digital tools, assign specific dates for each task. Personally, I need a project management board to keep my life in order, so I created one just for the holidays. And because I love y’all, I’m sharing it with you for FREE! 🎁 Details on how to access it are below.
5. Don’t Overthink & Don’t Overspend
This season is about joy, not stress. Make sure your schedule isn’t packed with things for everyone but yourself. Plan activities that make you happy—you deserve it! After all, most of this holiday magic wouldn’t happen without you.
